Welcome to PMEC@HOME
Pequi Mecânico is a student-led robotics center at the Federal University of Goiás, dedicated to fostering innovation and research in the field of robotics. Founded in 2011, our team brings together undergraduate and postgraduate students across various disciplines, working under the guidance of faculty members and with the support of esteemed institutions such as the School of Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering (EMC), the Institute of Informatics (INF), the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CEIA), and the Advanced Knowledge Center for Immersive Technologies (AKCIT).
Our mission is to advance the development of robotics within the academic community, while participating in renowned robotics competitions like the RoboCup and the IEEE Robotics competitions. With a focus on both hardware and software development, Pequi Mecânico continues to evolve and tackle complex challenges in robotics, striving to build a legacy for future generations.
About Us
Pequi Mecânico is a non-profit organization formed by students of the Federal University of Goiás, with a commitment to advancing robotics research and development. The team has participated in various prestigious robotics competitions, including IEEE Standard Educational Kit (SEK), IEEE Open, RoboCup Small Size Soccer (F180), IEEE Humanoid Robot Racing (HRR), IEEE Very Small Size Soccer (VSSS), and RoboCup Soccer Simulation 2D. Since 2019, we have expanded our focus to the RoboCup@Home league, which involves the development of service robots capable of assisting humans in daily tasks through advanced technologies.
Our flagship robot, Miss Piggy, is designed to interact with humans, navigate complex environments, and perform a variety of tasks, demonstrating the team’s expertise in both hardware and software. Despite challenges brought on by the post-pandemic environment, Pequi Mecânico remains dedicated to rebuilding and growing a culture of development in all aspects of robotics. With continued support from both commercial solutions and academic partners, we aim to create a sustainable foundation for future growth in the field.
Scientific Research and Open Source Contributions
At Pequi Mecânico, we are deeply committed to advancing scientific research in the field of robotics, with a particular focus on the integration of cutting-edge technologies and real-world applications. Our team actively participates in various research projects that aim to push the boundaries of robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-robot interaction. Through collaboration with academic institutions and scientific organizations, we contribute to the global body of knowledge and drive innovation within the robotics community.
In addition to our research efforts, Pequi Mecânico is dedicated to promoting open-source development. We believe in the power of shared knowledge and collaboration to accelerate technological progress. Our team regularly contributes to open-source projects, developing and sharing software, algorithms, and hardware designs that can be freely accessed and used by the broader robotics community. By embracing open-source principles, we foster an inclusive environment where ideas and solutions can be shared, refined, and implemented on a global scale.
